Tree Planting and MyTree Initiative at 3 schools

As part of the Aviral Godavari Mission, volunteers of the MyTree initiative of The Satsang Foundation (TSF) conducted workshops at three schools in Nashik ― Jyoti Vidyalaya, Pimpalgaon Bahula, Vidyaniketan, Satpur Colony, and Adarsh Vidyalaya, Nashik Road ― in collaboration with Namami Goda, Vijay Shree Sanstha, and Nashik Ploggers. The workshops had enthusiastic participation from over 700 students and around 20 teachers and principals across the three schools.

These workshops served to instill among the students a sense of connection with nature and to educate them about the importance of tree plantation. A MyTree volunteer led an engaging presentation on the significance of trees in our ecosystem. The presentation was supplemented with animated video clips, including scientific experiments demonstrating how trees interact with their environment.

The students were provided with Karanj (Indian Beech) seeds, a soil mixture, and grow bags, to plant and nurture the saplings. The saplings will be utilized for plantation during the Aviral Godavari project.

These workshops also included the initiation of TTT (Train The Trainers) sessions with local volunteers.

The Aviral Godavari team collected boulders from the surrounding areas and arranged them to create a loose boulder dam on Brahmagiri as a barrier to slow the flow of rainwater downhill and allow it to percolate better into the soil. This will also reduce top soil erosion, allowing plants and the ecosystem to survive and thrive.
